Parc de Wesserling Call for applications – gardens events 2020 – France – Alsace

Dear Delegates,

The Wesserling Park has launched Call for Application and is looking forward to a great year, rich in creations, events and poetry. This unique cultural site, formerly the „Manufacture Royale d’impression sur étoffes“ (Royal textile Printing Factory) has been welcoming landscape designers and visual artists for its Summer Garden Festival for more than 17 years and decided for 2020 to bring together all its garden events around a common theme. The theme of 2020 creations will be Flora in the tales of Andersen – Thumbelina (or little Tiny) – La Petite Poucette”.

Hans Christian Andersen and his fairy tales will be in 2020, the backbone of Parc Wesserling annual journey. The character of „Thumbelina“ has been chosen to guide our visitors throughout this new season.Let yourself be surprised by the poetry of her adventures, discover the riches of the nature around us and don’t forget to come back and tell us about the wonders you have discovered !

Open to every creative mind, this call for projects offers you the opportunity to present your unique view of the world and to express your artistic potential in a remarkable garden that is several hundred years old, where the intermingling of plants and the diversity of uses are the key words.

There are 3 categories:

  • Category 1 Photographs – a spring photographic exhibition open to professional and amateur photographers whose photographs will be displayed side by side in the gardens,
  • Category 2 Plastic installations – plastic installations in place ready for the opening, allowing artists and craftsmen to express their know-how,
  • Category 3 Landscape projects – the perpetuation of the Festival des Jardins Métissés (Mixed Gardens Festival), which gives landscapers and gardeners the opportunity to make us dream, thanks to their immersive and playful projects.

The proposals have to be sent by 13 December 2019 while the selection will take place mid-January 2020.
